SecureMeeting

SecureMeeting is an end-to-end encrypted video conferencing platform built during the start of Covid. It was the first online meeting platform to incorporate end-to-end encryption for conference-scaled calls, hosting over 1 million conversations across 90 countries. The platform also featured a cryptocurrency-incentivized decentralized network for scalable, high-security WebRTC calls.

problem

During the Covid pandemic, remote communication became essential overnight. Existing video conferencing platforms lacked end-to-end encryption for group calls, exposing sensitive conversations to potential surveillance. Businesses, governments, and individuals needed a secure way to meet online without compromising privacy, but no platform offered conference-scale encryption without sacrificing call quality.

solution

SecureMeeting delivered the first video conferencing platform with true end-to-end encryption for conference-scale calls. By architecting a cryptocurrency-incentivized decentralized network, the platform achieved scalable, high-security WebRTC connections without relying on centralized servers. This approach enabled over 1 million encrypted conversations across 90 countries, serving users from defense contractors to everyday professionals who demanded privacy.

When Privacy Became Non-Negotiable

SecureMeeting was born in the early days of 2020, when the world was suddenly forced online. Overnight, millions of people were funneled into video conferencing platforms that were never designed with real security in mind. Headlines about data leaks were everywhere. The question was obvious: why did no platform offer true end-to-end encryption for group video calls?

The answer was deeply technical. End-to-end encryption for two-party calls is well understood, but scaling it to conference-sized groups while maintaining call quality is an entirely different challenge. Existing platforms chose convenience over security, routing all video through centralized servers that could be intercepted. SecureMeeting set out to prove that you did not have to make that tradeoff.

The architecture was built from the ground up around WebRTC with a custom encryption layer that ensured no unencrypted media ever touched a server. A novel key exchange protocol allowed participants to join and leave calls dynamically without compromising the encryption of other participants. The system eventually hosted over one million conversations across 90 countries.

SecureMeeting went further than just encryption. The platform introduced a cryptocurrency-incentivized decentralized network, where node operators could contribute bandwidth and compute to relay encrypted media streams in exchange for token rewards. This created a distributed infrastructure that was more resilient than centralized alternatives, aligning economic incentives with the goal of privacy.

Looking back, SecureMeeting was ahead of its time — combining end-to-end encryption, decentralized infrastructure, and crypto-economic incentives into a single product before any of those ideas were mainstream. It proved that security and usability could coexist, and that people would choose privacy when given a genuine option.
